Our feature artist for December 2014 is Lindsey Graham – Printmaker
Lindsey has demonstrated how a latent talent can be re discovered and lead to beautiful art with international appeal.
In 2005, Lindsey was persuaded to attend a print making workshop while on holiday. She had done O level art but nothing since. The course had her hooked and she began to study printmaking with Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College – the end result being a Higher Professional Diploma in printmaking with distinction at West Hertfordshire College. A remarkable achievement from someone who had a demanding full time career in healthcare.
Original fine art prints are images created from hand crafted plates produced by the printmaker.
It is possible to ink up a plate in many different ways before the image is transferred to another surface, usually paper.
The final result is never certain until the paper is peeled away– a serendipity that has continued to fascinate Lindsey since her first introduction to the art.
Inspired by nature and the human face, Lindsey works mostly with etching, linocut and collograph methods.
She was accepted as a member of MK Printmakers and exhibits regularly within the UK.
Now also a member of Beds, Bucks & Herts Print Society and Leicester Printmakers Lindsey loves the discipline of producing miniprints. As a result she has been accepted by juried events and exhibits in Bulgaria, Canada, France, Spain and the USA.
Lindsey is Honorary President of Buckingham Art for All (Bafa), having helped make the organisation a reality, and co-ordinates the Bafa Art Trail. She facilitated the setting up of Buckingham Printmakers Network, the latest Bafa Networking group, which is holding its first exhibition upstairs at the Dragon Gallery in Buckingham as a prelude to its residency there during 2015.
